W08D2 – Insulation & Sub base prep for concrete
The are has been filled with chippings and such. The lower level has insulation boards so will be about 6 inches but the study/garage is not to be insulated so will only be about 4 inches deep. The gravel etc is compacted with a whacker plate and levelled off – the drainage is in, except for the last couple of pipes – this will be done before the concrete turns up at the alleged time of “7am” according to the builder.
The King-span is laid and some metal bars to reinforce the area also.
Building work going well but I then receive another invoice from DCWW for £97 !! WTF is this ?? Apparently the £2000 was not enough to pay for some shit-pipes to be moved – they want me to pay another £97 because I’m building near one of their pipes. I queried this with DCWW and they said that we had put in 2 different applications as we needed both. The charge was correct – so begrudgingly I paid the money and went about my business. Within an hour of paying the bill I get an email from DCWW stating that as I had already paid them for the visit they would waive the fee. This was great news except I’d already paid !!! However, the chap at DCWW is now happily processing a refund for me so not all bad.
Now…. B&Q – gotta love them. this is my best clear voice now. “Can you please make sure that we do not receive any deliveries before 6 weeks time” Ok, so that would be middle of August at this time…. However I have 3 companies asking to deliver and another that actually has delivered items. So spent time on phone making sure that all the relevant items was sorted to only be delivered on or after the dates needed. Also one item after ordering has become obsolete throwing the entire delivery out to September ! FFS come on can’t be that hard can it ??
