W03D4 – Side foundations in – but no DCWW agreement yet

Side foundations are in and the steelwork set in the concrete.  Called DCWW to speak with their engineer today – not in but will call me back.

We need to get some sort of agreement as the Builder does not wish to dig under the wall without taking it down, and the DCWW will not allow us to start the build on our land – fucking ridiculous situation to be in.  Possibly would be better to have the builders working to DPC level at the back and await the DCWWs approval rather than fuck it up and have to rework.

I have stated very clearly to the builder on several occasions that DCWW need to start under the wall.  This is wholly impractical and stupid but is what they are asking for.  Should they deviate from the build, or drawings, then they will become liable for any costs incurred for remediation.

Architect and Inspector came today and explained that there definitely needs to be a section of the wall cut out with a disc cutter and the work done under the wall.  Apparently this is non-negotiable.  We’ll see how that turns out.  I really feel sorry for the builders as they know their trade and are saying that what is being asked simply is wrong.  What do I do ???
